For a second year, we hosted our Accessible Trunk-Or-Treat Spooktacular Event this past Saturday in the Inland Empire and thanks to feedback from attendees, community partners, and our sponsors, it was a complete success; in spite of the rain!

Since 2016, we have hosted numerous, large-scale events (like our Disability Pride Parade and our new Youth Leadership Summit) throughout Los Angeles County and we want to ensure that our community members in the I.E. have their own opportunities to participate and engage. Early in 2021, our CEO paved the way, and in a few short months, we hosted our 1st trunk-or-treat event in San Bernardino. This single event immediately gave us a great community perspective and visibility. We used this event, in part, as a driver to build on, listen, understand and improve.

This past Saturday, we welcomed nearly 40 diverse vendors made up of community-based organizations, healthcare providers, City and County departments, and small businesses wanting to give back and connect. We had a spooky maze, games, prizes, food, snacks, refreshments, and candy, all at no cost to attendees. Resources like equitable transportation are limited in the Inland Empire and the last thing we want to contribute to is another barrier for our community, which is why we ensure, along with our vendors and sponsors, that our event is and was entirely free. Children and adults alike enjoyed all of the animals at the petting zoo, our DJ's music, the bacon-wrapped hotdogs were a hit and seeing all of our vendors join in the Halloween fun and decorate their spaces was incredible! Well over 500 attendees didn't allow a little rain (and even some thunder) keep them from coming out and spending their Saturday evening with us, wearing their costumes and having a spooky-good time.

Congratulations to Keystone Industrial Medicine for having the winning booth - your Hocus Pocus theme was amazing! We want to also congratulate our costume winner - they received a Harry Potter goodie bag that included 2 admission tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood!

In addition to our attendees, volunteers and staff, we want to thank our Presenting "Gold" Sponsor - Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) for their unwavering support. IEHP's mission is to heal and inspire the human spirit. Beyond their contribution, IEHP ensured our event had enough volunteers on hand, provided boxes of food to those who needed it, and ensured access to the latest COVID-19 vaccine and booster. The staff from the County of San Bernardino Department of Public Health did a wonderful job serving everyone who chose to protect themselves from COVID-19.

We also want to thank our "Bronze" Sponsor and supporter of SCRS, Southern California Gas Company - for their ongoing support of SCRS, this Trunk-or-Treat event, and our soon-to-launch Mobile App.

We are grateful and eager to welcome everyone back again next year!
