OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Early detection saves lives. Did you know that Medi-Cal covers cancer screenings, including mammograms, radiation, and chemotherapy? Know your rights to cancer treatment under Medi-Cal and schedule your mammogram screening TODAY. Call the Healthcare Consumer Alliance at 888-804-3536 to speak with a health consumer advocate.


NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK

October 10-14 is National School Lunch Week for students in TK–12th grade. Schools are now required to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students requesting a meal, regardless of their free or reduced-price meal eligibility. PANDEMIC EBT IS BACK

Pandemic EBT, or P-EBT, provides food benefits to help families with children. Lost your P-EBT card? Call the P-EBT Helpline at (877) 328-9677 (M–F from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.) Please note that DPSS does NOT administer the P-EBT program. LAHSA HOSTING VIRTUAL LISTENING SESSIONS

The L.A. Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) invites you to join a series of listening sessions to ensure that their new approach is responsive to the unique needs and priorities of communities across L.A. THE TASTE OF SOUL IS BACK

Visit the DPSS booth located in the L.A. County Pavilion at the 17th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival on Saturday, October 15th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The festival will take place on Crenshaw Blvd., between Stocker St. and Obama Blvd. The free day-long event will showcase the best of food, entertainment, and shopping.
